Eating a baked potato is fine, but not because it's a protein source. There are eight essential amino acids, so called because the body cannot produce them. Except for quinoa (I'm still slightly skeptical about this) no plant product contains all 8 amino acid - therefore you have to have combinations of plant foods (rice and beans, bread and peanut butter) or eat meat.

If you're eating chicken and ham you have all the essential amino acids and probably all the fat you need - but you still need complex carbs and a baked potato is a fine source. Still, it's a tuber. You will need grains and legumes in addition. (I'll let professional nutritionists go on about the deficiency of a tuber based diet.)

Back to the potato, beware because the butter, sour cream, A1 sauce and other things lathered on a baked potato are not the healthiest. :-)

Nice advise man! I eat the potato free of any sauce, cheese or cream, just a plain potato. And I will mix it with some grains just like you said. Thanks for it mate.
