    Hey guys, just figured I'd introduce myself. I'm new to boxing and was just wondering if there were any tips you had for a beginner. I've found a nice local boxing gym and am set to start March 1st. I lift weights 5 days/week and do cardio (run, bike) 7 days/week. Definitely used to the forum atmosphere.

    I have recently gone from 245lbs to 209 lbs, 21lbs of that being this month (just started working out. the first chunk of weight was from tennis in high school)

    My girlfriend also joined the boxing gym I'm going to - she's tough as hell though.

    Replace those 5 days of lifting with 5 days of boxing, take a day off the cardio, and after 2-4 weeks (when your body is adjusted to boxing workouts) add in lifting again, no more than 3x/wk (2 is better). Make sure it's strength training.
