A couple days ago I posted a thread asking how to start training for boxing. Everyone said that a boxing gym is the only way to start. Well after searching the Internet and the phonebook I can't find one within 30 miles of me. I live in newtown ct which is in Fairfield county. So now that I don't have access to a boxing gym what should I do?

there is the waterbury PAL. I am not sure how old you are but you can get in contact with them if you have a car. I have seen them at tournaments so they defenetly exist. If you get in contact with the people who actually run the training then you can probably train there.

However someway, somehow at least take a few boxing lessons from someone with ring experience to at least learn some proper technique. Stance, footwork, straight punches. Watch as many techinque videos on youtube as you can find and watch as many fights as you can find. But keep in mind this does not make you a fighter, you do need a gym and sparring.

Now you have a slip bag, a mirror to do shadowboxing in front of and the heavy bag.

Thank you so much! Everyone in the other thread was saying that I shouldn't do this but I have no other option. I already have a heavy bag and a mirror and I guess I'll set up a slip bag. Thanks again!

I do not have a car/license and no one willing to drive me there. I cannot afford cabs to and from the gym, and bus routes don't run there. So I would essentially have to walk or ride my bike...
