Yes, this topic has come up here before. I wholly endorse Yoga:

      1) As you get older, even by the time you're in your early 30s (like me) Yoga becomes more and more necessary. I love boxing, everything about it, I don't even compete in Boxing but its a true passion of mine - there is no way in hell I'd be able to be this much into boxing if I didn't loosen up my body and help my back, legs, arms, chest, shoulders, knees, inner organs, etc with yoga.

      2) If anyone is unconvinced I suggest taking a class for a couple reasons, one is you'll learn yoga properly then you gradually find and modify poses that help whatevers specifically ailing you. Another good reason is most yoga classes are 99% female, and if you're a regular guy, that's not such a bad thing...

However one thing I do hate is all yoga is marketed toward women, its really annoying. Not all yoga practitioners are white suburban women, some of us are beer drinking blue collar guys that enjoy watching people punch each other in the face.

Ryan Giggs is a soccer player who is still able to play at the elite level despite being 37, this is unheard of in soccer. He gives credit to yoga.

It is something associated mainly with women however.

I would give it a shot if I had more time on my hands

I don't turn my nose up at anything that can help the body!

I was interested in trying Tai Chi but it seems like one of those lifetime commitment things probably take me about 10 years to get decent at it

Although the inner peace you get from it sounds good

That Ryan Giggs comment is inspiring, I didn't know that

Maybe they will start a new marketing angle sometime in the future to get it out to a broader range of people

Yoga increases balance, coordination, flexibility, physical and mental endurance, concentration, posture, and body awareness. It lowers your blood pressure and heart rate, and the increased oxygen flow from yoga breathing, when done correctly, improves memory and has been shown to speed physical healing. Yoga is one of the best things you can do for your body.

Plus, as mentioned above, you're in a room surrounded by uber-flexible girls for an hour a day. Do the math.
