I never understood all that, all I know is sometimes I throw a hook with my fingers/thumb facing me n sometimes I twist so my fingers/thumb are facing down, any explain to me all the types of hooks in easy English pls!
Thanks
Ok, you can throw a hook with your thump facing up, it is usually better to throw short hooks on the inside, especially if you dont have Lennox Lewis's wingspan. Hooks thrown with a thumb parallel to the grownd, and especially when they are turned down a bit in the end of the motion are good on the outside, especially if you are throwing a hook of the jab and is at the distance.
I dont know what is an underhand punch to the head, but sometimes you throw a counter cross to the body instead of the head.
Basically the principle of the overhand is that it is very hard to hit an orthodox fighter with a straight punch when you attack him, however when an orthodox fighter throws a jab, you can counter with a slightly lunged right hand that will go over his left hand.
