  • Chris Eubank describing his training (awesome)

First it was half an hour of flexibility work, which was stretching drills involving backbends and splits. Then it was half an hour of agility work, which was shadow boxing drills using feet and body as well as fists. Then it was bag work for resistance.

I used the pads for power, because I naturally had the accuracy. Finish with uppercut bag, speed bag, skipping and 20 medicine ball hits to the stomach.

Five or six weeks from a fight, most of the bag and pad work and the medicine ball hits were replaced with very heavy sparring, building it up from 3 rounds to 12 rounds and back to 6, to peak properly. I always finished my sparring the day before the fight itself because it was all about being immune and (having) the ability to absorb.

    I would spar 125 to 130 rounds in 25 to 30 sessions.

The training would re-start the Monday after a fight. And the morning running was seven days (per week), building it from 3 to 4 miles to 8 miles - mostly beach running and hill running. I also did push ups, sit ups and rope climbing in the morning but never did weights because it would interfere with form - I needed to be loose and lissome, not tense.

I believe very few fighters trained as hard as me.

Ronnie (Davies) was my supervisor - I trained him! He'll tell you himself that I taught him more than he taught me.
