You become conditioned to getting hit so the headaches eventually lessen. Working your neck should help out a lot. The stronger your neck base, the less your head is likely move around like it's on a swivel when you get hit.

a neck strengthener is like a strap u wrap around your head and attach some light weights on it so you can do "yes and no" or whatever to make your neck stronger.

yeah i went through google, this forums and other message boards for sparring beginner problems and most of them are what i experience except the red eye thing. i think i have a condition called episcleritis where the whites of my eye get inflammed. idk why? well it doesnt matter im not really pursuing to compete in the pro. amatuer level maybe but im taking it one step at a time.

and i think i miss him because yes i probably do telepraph my punches. the problem is, i am probably the top if not the 2nd top prospect at my gym, i have the fastest handspeed and im pretty good at form.

but when sparring starts i start to look like a grandma and just reaching for the punches. i need to find my distance on this guy but whenever i try to even come close to getting my distance to land a jab, he lands combos on me.
if you were a "top prospect", you'd be fighting.

It sounds like when you're throwing shots you are going through the motion, this is going to make you slow. You have to get some serious leverage in your shots, throw every shot like you mean it, you will notice the difference! So in essence, don't throw lazy shots, that's why this guy is able to telegraph your shots so easy and counter with one straight back in your face. Use movement, and your speed, this guy is slower than you! That being said, this guy seems a little to big for you!

Don't forget to Jab, Jab, Jab,, develope a good JAB!

no. a headache means you're getting hit too much (or...). last time i got a headache was from a huge overhand right to the back of the head. one additional cause of brain damage from boxing is dehydration; the fluid layer around your brain is depleted as you dehydrate. carl froch even said it, so dont believe me, believe him. i get worse headaches when i am dehydrated, IE sweatsuit + sauna suit sparring over ten rounds.
last week i did fourteen rounds on monday, no headache. i sparred 6-10 rounds the rest of the week, no headache. sometimes i get hit all night if im in a slugfest... but i dont fight to get hit. dont get hit, no headache. punch and dont be punched, thats the name of the game. soto v antillon is textbook. watch what soto does and you wont be touched.
closing your eyes is a sign of being tense and unfamiliar with sparring. get hit more and it wont happen. not getting hit makes your career longer. i had a coach that had his olympic bid ruined by an eye injury, he was a 2 time national champ. he puts 100% of his effort into coaching national amateur chmaps, and world professional champs. dont get hit, because there is no limit to what you can achieve in boxing.
