    Cardio, boxing, and weights...

    So towards the end of last year I began incorporating some weight lifting into my routine and it showed in the ring. The help of the legwork especially made me feel more agile and explosive in the ring.

    Anyway, on at least a few days during the week, I want to do my running, my boxing, and weights all on the same day. The plan is to break it down into two separate workouts, one in the morning and one in the evening. My question is, how should I separate my workouts? I was thinking of doing running and boxing in the morning, then weights at night. That way my muscles wouldn't be dead in the evening if I did weights in the morning and boxing in the evening. If I could get people's serious input on what they believe I should do and why, it'd be very appreciated.

    I'm looking for direct answers to my post and am not looking for input on whether or not you believe weights are good or not for boxing. Pleeease don't flood the thread with nonsense. Thanks in advance!!

      a general statement like that is incorrect. gloves are weights your body is a weight the heavy bag is a weight, ect.

      i'd do boxing then cardio in the morning then weights at night.

      amongst the multiple issues that can occur with weights one is doing weights too much if your allready doing alot of weight work like say 3 times a week and now your even trying to incorporate it into your boxing days then your probly doing tooo much weight work and your boxing would be alot better if you spnt that time boxing.

        That's what I was thinking Spartacus Sullus, as far as the cardio and boxing in the morning. I was doing weights before relatively randomely, but I am looking to lift about 3 times a week total. I just wouldn't want to give up 3 days worth of boxing to do so.

          i'd do the boxing first so your freshest when learning and training then the cardio.

          if you are going to do weights as part of your routine id reccomend to leave them to their own day or with cardio for atleast one of the 3 times a week.

            Most pro boxers separates it into three sessions;

            Early morning: running, mid-day; boxing and weights/technique in the afternoon.

            But if split into two, I'd do around 3-5 km (2-3 miles) running as a warm-up to boxing, then technique and boxing before finishing off with either heavybag intervals or interval running followed by 20-25 min of cycling to wash off the acid.

            But that's me and my body. I do this often and it works for me. No scientific study I can show you to prove I'm on the right track.
