    which stance?

Hey i just started training for boxing at a local gym and i love it. I just have a question before i start getting into any boxing habit.I am pretty ambidextrous and It feels comfortable to me to go either the orthodox stance or the southpaw stance they both feel great. Which one should i use when training (is there an advantage to being a southpaw or disadvantage).

    thanks

Have a look at two guys, James De Gale and Dmity Pirog. Southpaws first but can switch at anytime.

i think thats called switch hitting. can work wonders. just as an oponent gets used to fighting you, you change. he has to relearn your stregths and weakensses again

We alll know the pros of being a southpaw. Here's some of the risks.

Your liver will be closer to your opponents lead hands.

It'll take you longer to develop a great jab.

Straight right hands will be flying your way

Do you have a dominant foot? If your left foot is the dominant one, I would box as a southpaw.

ya my left foot is my dominant so i think i am going to go southpaw. i feel like the biggest weakness is that i am going to get rocked by right hooks. any tips to try to avoid these hooks?

Keep your left hand up. A mistake new people often make is lowering their rear hand when attacking with the lead hand. You don't want to let that kind of mistake develop into a habit.

Shadow box frequently in front of a mirror to study your own mistakes and habits.
