How long did it take you to develop this punch? The southpaw bread and butter

all depends on the person and how long you been boxing or training. may take a few months may take a few years depends how quick of a learner you are. be patient with it, like anything you do when learning boxing it will take time. but the key is repetition WITH proper technique. your trainer(s) should be able to help you out with it since he can see what you are doing and can correct your mistakes. you'll learn that a lot has to do with your footwork and balance, with a good base (balance) things become easier. also part of what makes a lead left dangerous and any punch dangerous is the ability to conceal the punch (not telegraph it) and here is where technique comes in. very hard to slip what you can't see and the punches you don't see are the ones that hurt you. my best advice is be patient and learn the proper technique. try to get a trainer who is familiar with the southpaw stance i've had my run in with some that are clueless on the southpaw stance and couldn't work mitts for s**t. best of luck to you

I mean im a naturally lefthanded so I throw it all the time. With caution to the wind so to speak. Are you right handed? Then I would assume you would have to learn the mechanics of it first and develop your whole left side for confidence. Technique is important but sparring is where you learn the where, when, and how you can throw it. Sparring sparring sparring.
