    Fruit & Veg Diet?

    Hey

Am thinking about starting a diet that consistis ONLY of fruit & veg. So All I can ever eat is fruit and veg only, And only drink water, all for about a week/10 days.

What do you think of this?

Bad idea in my opinion, you need your protein and your carbs for energy. Im guessing your doing this to lose weight but you need to eat BALANCED meals. I dont think fruits and vegetables by themselves will give you all the nutrients you need. Boxing takes up alot of energy so you have to be well nutritioned. Eating lean meats and fish shouldnt make you fat if your exercising. Try for example canned tuna, tilapia, roast bee, salmon etc.

I agree, although Timothy Bradley does it so be worth checking what he eats and more importantly; how often.
I think it is possible to get all the nutrients off veg, theres plenty of protein in beans.
TS what is the reason for you solely having fruit and veg? I do a few veggie days when weight training to keep me bulking up too much, maybe alternate between veggie and meat days?

Why do you want to this? Is it for weight purposes or a general detox kind of thing? Or are you doing it for performance in boxing?

I dont know if just veg and fruit is a good idea for 10 days, its pretty likely you will suffer from some badass digestion issues since your body wont be used to so much fibre. Also where will you be getting your protein and essential fats from?

Basically if you only eat veg and fruit you are only eating carbs, and probably not enough carbs even.

Theres no way you will be able to train effectively on this diet, on the other hand you'll definately lose a lot of weight, although it wont be too healthy depriving your body of protein and fats.

To balance it out a bit, add some legumes and beans for a bit more of a protein and carb boost, and add some nuts or EV olive oil to your veg for some essential fats. You'll still feel like crap training but at least you wont be depriving yourself of stuff.

Sounds like a fruitopian diet. There's a site on this, pure fruit diet though, they advocate it as a lifestyle. I guess you can add nuts into the mix for protein if you want to do that. People do it as a detox.

if you suddenly switch to all fruit/veg from a normal/poor diet, you are going to be spending much of that week on the toilet; you may lose about five pounds of body weight (not just water weight).

I'm not against you doing that so long as you still get all of your nutrients.

You don't HAVE to eat flesh in order to get protein. There are other ways such as eating an assortment of beans and nuts (not too many nuts as they can cause constipation).

Or you can use different protein supplements.

There are so many different fruits and veggies that can provide the nutrients your body needs, it's only a matter of you properly preparing a menu to where you can fulfill all of your needs. Thumbs up to you for wanting to try this out.

i do this befoe i start training. protein shakes are essential. if you have fibre in the morning, and say canned tuna at night, not only will you detox, but you will lose weight, however like its been sayed you will be ****in for about 5 days

Terrible idea. I really canīt see the reason to not eat a varied diet that is suitable for your goals. It is almost never good to overeat anything no matter how healthy that is in small doses.
