  • Going from 157 to 141, is that safe?

I know I can do it, but I was wondering if losing that much weight would cause a person to be weight-drained or something.

I'm really not supposed to be 157, my real walking about weight is like 151 but I have been going overboard on the junk food and drinks and so I set myself way far back. I would like to compete at Light Welterweight (141) for my first fight and it's not any time soon so I have some time.

Could I make it to 141 healthy and if so, what kind of roadwork/HIIT/exercises do you recommend?

    Also, i'm about 5'10.

Truthfully I have the same frame as you. I walk around at 151-155 and fight at 141. Rule of thumb is you can fight ten pounds under you walk around weight. All I did to lose weight was increase my roadwork and watch what I eat. Basically not pig out. I dropped the weight in about 2.5 weeks. I did 5 mile runs to maintain endurance and or increase, and sprints to help with the weight loss. My trainer has the routine on the tredmill called "6,7,8's" All you do is start running at a speed one 6 and at the start of each minute to increase the speed. So minute one you are at 6, minute two 7, minute 3 you are at 8 and running hard. At the end of the minute start back at 6. He told me to do these to simulate a fight situation where by the end of three minutes I am pushing it hard, basically finishing a round strong. I typically do this for 9-12 minutes. Amateurs fights here in Ga are normally 3 rounds 3 minutes each so we just imitate fight conditions with this routine... Good luck.

Thanks alot bro for the advice. I'm definately going to try that routine.
I just thought that if you drop alot of weight like that it won't be healthy and you'll be weight drained like De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao.

      What's your fight record?
