Why is no facial hair allowed?

Why isn't facial hair allowed in amateur boxing?

Honestly i have no idea in that but i'm sure that they have a valuable reason in implementing that.

Because it can cause abrasions to the opponent aswell as damage an eye if they happen to collide.............Rockin'

I've been growing out a winter beard and I just hate that I'm going to have to shave it for my fight before the holidays lol. Could it be an image thing?

I always hated having to ditch the playoff beard in the middle of the NHL playoffs and had to explain to everyone why.

Because those that conjure up and enforce the rules aren't manly enough to grow decent beards. Signs of insecurity.
