You believe that this novice boxer will not be the "can" that gets kicked around, sheeat! Who's his promoter, who's his manger and who is his match maker? Lol, has he even had a day of proper training? Believe me when I say that without a descent manager, promoter or match maker this kid will be the can that everybody pays the money to see get knocked the **** out. He will probably have all kinds of calls for fights once they see the massacre and word gets around. He may actually be able to make a dismule income if he agrees to two of the many phone calls a month and inks his name on the dotted line.

Atleast get some REAL experience before you even consider turning pro. Say spend 2 years in the amatuers busting your ass every day, every training session and every fight. Who knows what can happen if it's really in you.
I don't know man, I'm just going by what he's telling us. Its the internet ffs.

If he thinks he's ready, he's gonna do it. I'm just telling him to take it slow and train hard.

    That's it.

Stick to your comfortable chair and yell your advice to your television. Atleast then nobody will get hurt giving advice where you lack any knowledge on the subject..........Rockin'

(This was in response to a post that Mr. Gore deleted where he said it again)
Why are you so agitated. We don't know if he's skilled or not. He might be a good fighter. I'm just going by what he's saying.

I've never seen him one way or the other, but he sounds like he's at least been in a gym and sparred regularly.

You're making too much out of this man.

80 backyards fights, impressive. It pisses me off because you speak as if from experience, yet what you say is just....... words escape me. You're telling a novice to turn pro, your dad must drive the meat wagon is the only thing that I can figure. It's o.k to be supportive if he was playing golf or baseball, he could go in as green as hell and not get hurt while being massacred at any GAME. Boxing is one of the few sports that is not a game. Save your advice for the playground.........Rockin'

There's been a lot of posts already so I don't know if adding on at this point makes too much of a difference but since you asked, here's my 2 cents worth:

Picking up some paid undercard fights at a local show can be fun and put a couple of bucks in your pocket for your efforts, but if you're looking at it to as you put it, "have some money to fall back on", or to help supplement your income, there are many better more secure options that would be better suited for surviving in the real world.

The additional time you would have to put in for training and conditioning so you don't get killed in the ring or get embarassed, would be better spent in another job or continuing your education.

I think that someone mentioned participating in some amatuer fights to get a feel for how ready you are was great advice. It doesn't cost too much to get registered with USA Boxing, and you'll be matched with those of similar experience. You'll find out soon enough what your potential is to make a living or at least supplement a living in the ring.

You should have a couple of REAL amatuer fights, non sanctioned = means nothing. Hell, if were talking non-sanctioned fights then I'm a seasoned pro lol, every time we spar at my gym we have NO headgear sometimes NOT even a mouthguard. and sometimes even 3 minute rounds, usually 6 rounds. So it's basicly with pro rules except it's sparring and therefore it's NOT a match. And fighting every 3 weeks at a local club as a pro? I suspect it's NON- pro sanctioned fights, am I right? Few pro's fight that often nowadays in the U.S. and I get the impression it will not actually be sanctioned.... And if it's not sanctioned(in other words go up on BoxRec Lol) it's NOT real pro fights.

                  What's up Dark..

Rockin' has a very strong point..and to the people taking it as being agitated or mean than Boxing isn't for you..this is a CUT THROAT SPORT!..and like my coach always says.."you can fake it for so long before you get exposed for the fraud you are"..

Dark I saw that you mentioned Chicago and Golata, are you based in or near Chicago?..if so you know the Golden Gloves are coming in March I believe..why don't you enter and see how you hold up?..that'll be the true test because surrounding cities always come as well, and if you win it here, you'll compete at the national level..

I don't think going pro is a really good idea unless you're atleast locally recognized as amongst the best in your division, and atleast have won a couple tournaments..

you'll make far more in a minimum wage job than you will in boxing. its not a viable career for anyone but a very lucky few, and if you've not make it as an amatuer (national at least, international preferably) then i dont beleive you'll make it as a pro. Green or not, you'll have no financial weight behind you whatsoever so you're going to have to work, study and box, do you really have enough time and dedication to stick with it? You dont have much to lose giving it a go, but you cant possibly look at this as a realistic career, cos it really isnt

You should save your advice for other bitter failures.

I'm trying to help him out not stress him out. If he thinks like you, he'll never turn pro.

Boxing is tough? No shit man. But you gotta sack up and give it a shot sometime. Quit acting like everyone is as bad at it as you are. This guy might actually be good.
