when i say vision i don't mean 20/20 eye sight although it helps. I mean an ability to see your opponent head on and through your peripheral and be able to anticipate based on his movements.

How would one go about developing great reflexes? Is it something that you're born with? Does it just come with practice?

reflexes come naturally through boxing, your body will learn to react upon certain movements of your opponent, give it time, anyone can get great reflexes

also to be a great counter puncher you have to be good at reading your opponents, find out what they are tyring to do and quickly pick up on habits, this way you know what typoe of punch they are most likely of throwing and thus allowing for great counter oppurtunity and you knowing where you should be standing with your feet planted

you just have to be smarter pretty much, being fast also helps

                  A good jab

                  vision

                  power helps

speed of the mind and hand

and it takes hella balls to sit in the pocket and fire back

and i've often foudn that the greatest counterpunchers are the smartest fighters

so intellegence might be the most important

usually you'd be better on it if you are born with it. although you can develop your reflexes more by tons of practice. muscle memory has got to do with the movement, once you get the habit of countering punches it comes naturally.

just always prcatice the drills on countering and see how you progress during sparring.

effective counter punching also comes with a great footwork. that means you have to also develop your foot work.
