  • Few Qs

Hi posted this in wrong section, here it is again:

Hi I'm new here and to boxing. I've done minimal martial arts but I have a bit of experience prior, taking up boxing due to simplicity.

I'm 16, how long do you think it will take until I can get to an amateur fight? Also, my abs/obliques/intercoastal muscles are way too sore to go again, do you think it is okay to just ease in how many times I do it a week for best progress? Finally, the guy said just keep orthodox stance if you are right-handed, do I never use the other southpaw stance then (in the ring), because in other martial arts you tend to learn both?

It depends how good you an when you're ready. It sounds like you need a lot of work since you are new to boxing .. Also you can fight from both stances but learn your first stance firs and master that

It will take you 6-18 months on average to fight, depending on how fast you learn and how dedicated you are.

I'd start with 2 times per week, then build it up to 3 and then 4 per week when you are ready to fight.

And generally you just fight from one stance.

        Thanks

I'm picking up quickly coz I did karate for four years and practiced muay thai/boxing at home without bag, just form etc

I pick up quick the guy said I thought I'd boxed before ha. Is it possible if I progress quick, get an amateur fight maybe in the next 12 months or a bit less?

And if so, do amateur boxers get sponsored? friend in muay thai has a a sponsorship from lucozade

        thanks
