  • Punches/Combinations for Knocking Out

What punches or combinations should someone practice for achieving a knock out?

Right Uppercut-Left Hook against a crouching opponent, the Uppercut, which is a heavy punch in its own right, knocks their head upwards into the path of the Left Hook. Its how Arturo Gatti knocked out Joey Gamache (He threw a right hand at the end as well though).

A right uppercut to the jaw and then should the left hook go to the jaw too or the temple?

Work on combos that go from the body then to the head like jab straight right to the body left hook to the head. you can hit that alot. or mix it the the head then the body to drop a guy from a body shot.

Every knockout that I've achieved in competition (except for one) was by the old one-two. The basics are still the best for me.

But knockouts, unless you've got incredible power, are far more about out-boxing the other guy... setting him up, wearing him down, than about that one isolated combination. It's very hard to knock out a guy wearing headgear unless he's been properly set up.

my teacher always uses this whipping left hook.. feels like u got hit with a sledgehammer. i've been working on it now: instead of a textbook hook, turning your fist in and turn it inward with your elbow up to protect your chin with your shoulder, you extend ur arm outwards for a nano second and THEN whip it in hard as a hook... it sounds weird and puts a lot of stress on your arm, elbow, wrist, but that **** comes down HARD as HELL!

****** question, theres no specific punch or combo thats going to garuntee you knockouts, you just have to be a good boxer with power and timing. Spar a lot, thats the magic bullet you're looking for.
