Been boxing for a while, not sure how long, only just got back to training because of injuries.

What has this got to do with anything ?.

and sorry i cant find the link but freddie roach said that its a load of BS, just some silly old school crap.
As part of Pacquaio's training someone hits him with a stick all over his body several times, does Freddie tell them to do this to make him stronger ?, no it's to get him used to the pain, it's the same principle as the medicine ball.

let me hit u in the head 10 times to the left and right jaw, yeah ur jaw is going to get stronger?
It's not going to make my jaw stronger but if you keep getting hit your body eventually gets kind of used to it, that's why when most people start boxing they get headaches just from light punches in sparring then over time it doesn't effect you so much.

With the medicine ball it's not about you getting stronger it's about getting used to the pain and such.

If you do all those sit ups and ab exercises without knowing the pain of it and you get nailed in a fight it's going to be 10x worse then if you already know what what it's like to get hit.
isn't that part of what sparring's for?

getting hit with a flat stick is VERY different from getting your midsection basically squashed by a free falling, heavy object

getting hit by a medicine ball is like sparring with 8oz gloves. it's the closest thing to the real deal, but that's exactly why you shouldn't do it during training. i think that the body shots you take during sparring are more then enough to prepare you for a fight, ESPECIALLY if you spar with bigger dudes

I know it's very different but it's the same principle, to prepare your body.

The Medicine ball is additional, I only do it every now and then but to say it is complete bollocks and does nothing is well, complete bollocks.

              You have one wide-head, ha.

Heavy bag - Bring your punches back, especially your jab. You don't retract it, and with that sort of hang-time, you'll end up knocked out. You don't turn and turn with your punches too well either, making them arm punches and diminishing a lot of power you would be generating throughout the entire body otherwise. Sit on your damn punches. When you jab to the body, try to dip a bit or put a little upper body movement with it because you leave yourself exposed even more than you are when I was talking about when you double/triple your jab. And sorry, but you just look incredibly dumb when you do impressions of other fighters, especially when you do them terribly.

and sorry i cant find the link but freddie roach said that its a load of BS, just some silly old school crap. me and many others i know believe this - roach saying it or not. ab exercises, crunches, bicycle sit ups improve ur abdominal muscles and able you to take body shots not somebodyhitting u with a medicine ball. let me hit u in the head 10 times to the left and right jaw, yeah ur jaw is going to get stronger?

medicine ball is a myth.. new training methods are taking over 1910 stuff
And how do you know that Mike Tyson used the maize ball correctly? Or that there is only one proper way to use it? As I said, I don't use it (most people in my gym use it only because "that's what Tyson did", but it's used for slipping punches. He's a little wide with his slips but otherwise he's good.

Complete non-sequitur about the medicine ball to the abs versus getting hit in the head. The jaw is a bone, the midsection is composed partially of muscle.

A muscle doesn't "know" what kind of exercise it's doing. It can only contract or relax. Taking a medicine ball to the midsection trains the abdominal muscles to contract rapidly. By saying that medicine ball strikes are worthless you're essentially saying that they don't force the abs to contract, which is flat out wrong.
