  • How to train, but keep my weight?

I made a post on what training to do as a boxer, and the common thing was running/fitness.

The problem is that I'm a fairly small guy as it is and training will only make me loose weight and thus make me skinnier, especially if I'm doing lots of cardio. And I really don't want to look small and skinny.

So my question is how can I keep my weight? Would do I need to eat? Would protein shakes be a good idea?

Protein shakes are great. I take ON Whey Protein Gold Standard which helps because I am pretty thin guy too. I do little cardio and I do mostly strength training/weights. I also eat protein bars.

But shakes should work well for you. You can try creatine as well. It does maintain water weight though, and I am not sure if you want that.

Eat a lot of whole grains and pasta. Great source of carbs. Eggs and tuna area always good sources of protein.

It's recommended if you want to maintain size/muscle that you eat one gram of protein per pound you weigh. And it's better to eat 5 small meals a day than 2 or 3 large ones. Your body digests food/protein much better in smaller increments.

Eating large increments will only waste food and make you take bigger dumps, lol. Plus the excess protein is stored as fat, since your body can only process so much protein at once. It's better to spread out protein intake periodically thoughout the day.

you dont really burn muscle unless your not getting enough protien or youve depleted your carb stores.

unless your weight lifting you dont really need more then half your body weight in grams of protien....thats a little confusing....like if your 100 lb's then you really dont need any more then 50 grams of protien daily.

soo then theres depleating your carb stores. the average person can store 400 grams of glucose. when you start exercising and dieting you might burn like 100 grams of glucose but only have enough carbs to replensih 70 grams of glucose. after a few weeks you will have depleated your glucose stores youll start feeling extra tired extra sore and it will take alot longer to recover. this will all be because your carb stores are gone and your bodys burning protien with fat instead of carbs and fat.

sooo like every few weeks cut back on the exercise for a week, eat your brains out and you should avoid loosing muscle.
