Hey, do you guys have any recommendations for back exercises?

Also, regarding jump rope training, is it better for go for short, fast intervals or long-term repetition?

    re: jump rope:

I started by focusing on skills over endurance. In the process of learning and perfecting gay jump rope tricks, I built up my endurance.

Now I just do 3 minutes, 5 rounds. 30 second breaks.

For jump rope, both ways have merits. I personally do one long session of rope skipping. (If you care, I jump to a certain number of playings of Night Train by James Brown. I do this to pay homage to one of my favorite fighters, Sonny Liston.)

For the back, I do this exercise that my old coach called a "superman". I lie face down with my arms straight out (like Superman flying) and lift my legs and arms off the ground simultaneously, so that my weight is mainly resting on my pelvis. I do it currently for multiple reps of a few seconds, but holding this position is good also.

I do chinups which always make my upper back sore right below the shoulders; not sure if it's considered a "back exercise" but that's what burns when I do it.

For a warmup exercise to get the blood flowing, slow long term is better. For a conditioning exercise fast intervals.

Close grip pull ups to your abs (so like your body is parellel to the floor)

          rowing to your abs

          weighted shrugs

          are good for your back
