  • Skipping Rope-Running-Hitting Heavy Bag

Hey guys im new to this site and to boxing, I am moving to the city in a week and am very excited to join a boxing gym. I have been trying to get in shape so I dont look like a clown when I first walk in to the gym. I usually skip rope for ten mins than run down my road which has all sorts of hills. I run for 15-20 mins than turn around and sprint the hills on the way home. Than I will immediately go and hit the heavy bag for 10-15 mins. Is this effective for beginners? any tips? thanks guys

Hell yeah, it is. I reccomend shadow boxing. It works your whole technique and improves you mentally. But what your doing is really good dude. Your stamina must be sharp right now. Keep it up and remember to also focus on technique and rythem aswell.

Try to learn the right technique before hitting the bag as you could develop bad habbits. Apart from that it's good, do some calisthenics (pushups, pullups, dips, sit-ups ect) also try getting a medicine ball and a double end bag, which shouldn't cost too much and are easy to get hold of.
