  • Which punch combination do you use the most?

    Hi,

So that's my question. I use often right to the body and then the right uppercut.

    Peace,

    Reem

I have to apologize because I have mine written down in number format based off of Cus D'Amato's numbering system.

1 - Left hook to head.
2 - Straight right to head/right hook to head.
      3 - Left uppercut.
      4 - Right uppercut.
5 - Left hook to body.
6 - Right hook to body.
      7 - Jab to head.
      8 - Jab to body.

      7, 2.
      6, 4, 1.
      6, 1, 2.
      7, 2, 3.
      7, 2, 5.
      Slip opponent's jab, 6, 4, 1.
      Slip right hand, 5, 1.
      7, 2, lean/step right, 6, 2.
      7, 2, 5, 1.
      7, 4, 1.
      7, 1.
      7, 4, 1, 2, 1.

Various forms of head movement are incorporated before, during, and/or after each combination.

well my strength/weakness is that i use my left hand a lot, because of my reach. so i would say left jab and then left uppercut, when they try to close the guard on me.

The old 1-2. The simplest is also the most effective. I'm not a great defensive fighter, but in competition, even I can avoid these four/five punch combinations that everyone here says they throw.

I also hook off the jab very often at mid-range. I use that to stall my opponent and get back out to the outside if he's trying to swarm.

yup same here. truthfully, i look for the openings after i connect the first two shots. i move around watch his patterns see where i can hit him, mainly aiming for openings on the head, but also very much the body. not long ass combinations though, 1 or 2, maybe 3 shots and then move around.
