  • how long should i run for?.

    ive asked a couple guys at my gym how long they run for and the average is 30-45 min.is this a good time to run?how long do you run for?i dont want to undertrain or overtrain so i want to hear your input.

    Its impossible to over train :P

    But, yeah 30-60 minutes is good

      TS dont listen to this bafoon. He dont know **** about training. You can overtrain.



      If your an average sized guy then 30-45 mins is good. Im overweight right now and i do 25-30 mins with relative ease, but make a good sweat tho.



      Just dont cut your calories too low, ya dont wanna deprive your body of nutrients and cals to run your body

        You need to do different types and intensities of running. Running for 30-45 minutes can be good sometimes, but you need other forms of running also.


        Do a steady run for say 30 mins maybe once or twice per week. Then do an intense run over 2 miles, looking to get a fast time, maybe once a week, then do sets of sprints, like say starting with 4x400m (all out intensity, 1 min rest in between) and then gradually building up to stuff like 5x800m, 10x100m, do those once a week.

        So there, that's 3-4 running sessions per week to start off with, more than enough for someone starting out with boxing. That will get your weight down, keep your fight fitness up, and give your legs the overall conditioning they need.

          Think about it, in the amatuers your fighting for 6-9 minutes depending on your level. 2 miles a day would be plenty and should take no longer than 15 minutes or so. After the 2 miles walk abit and then get into wind sprints. Go to a track and run the straight and walk the turn, run the straight and walk the turn, do like 4 laps that way. When your strong, do more. Boxing is not just about endurance but more so endurance with bursts.

          Starting out you may want to do less but once your stronger what I said up there will be more than enough for a 9 minute fight, with proper gym work ofcourse............Rockin'

            In the gym I usually do 15 minute bike warm up.

            15 minutes cross trainer.

            20 minutes treadmill.10 minutes on bike with 20 second sprints for every minute.

            10 minute warm down on this other sort of bike thing.

            Rowing machine 10 minutes every now and again.
