  • either footed fighting

fighters that switch stance throughout the fight

i know the down side is being caught off balance, but other martial arts can fight equalliy well either footed, and being able to close gaps quicker , with twice the angles just seems like a good way to fight.

few good guys iv seen do it
    -jack dempsey
    -prince naseem
    -marvin hagler
and a few guys that do it rarely but do it well
    -duran
    -james toney
    -cotto

just wondered if anyone knows of the boxer that faught the most equal.

-the boxer who landed as many jabs in southpaw as he does in orthadox ect.

When has Toney done it? JW, I'd like to see it in action. Ward does it from time to time. I can't recall anyone who I've seen being super effective with it.

I dont belive dempsey fought with the right foot forward though he did advocate stepping up with the right to square up some times, he never advocated stepping back with your left.

Mayweather used to do it frequently when his hands were bad.
Hugo Cazares does it throughout his fights. He tends to square up alot though.
Any Brendan Ingle fighter is worth wathcing too if your looking to learn. He teaches everyone in his gym to swtich hit. Not always the nicest style to watch but it can be effective.

In the Dirrel vs Froch fight Dirrel was transitioning well to southpaw and back.

to be honest he doesnt do it often, but check out his 11th round ko of michael nunn, he swings with a big right and misses, the steps forward with his right leg and throws and powerfull left hook, kinda like the dempsey roll.

Zab Judah is equally comfortable with both.

thats the shot the fitzsimmons used to take down corbett though fitz would have stepped with the big right not after, and he probably wouldn't have missed with it either.

Id imagine though that after the left tooney steped back with his right going back to orthodox, not south paw.

yea he walks straight into orthadox and his only in southpaw for one punch, buts its little moments iv noticed with a few boxers that made me start thinking about what if you where to fine tune the best ways to switch between stances.

i got a pretty decent combo where i start in orthadox, throw a right hook while stepping to my left- so that the bunch becomes a short right hook in southpaw position, then follow up with a straight left from the southpaw stance.
