It's more to do with the fact that training at high altitude gets you used to the lack of oxygen.

ben nevis is the biggest the UK and even thats only hitting 1000m maybe..Comment

Well, you ideally want to train at the highest altitude you can. Obviously if you were a professional, you could go to other countries etc. But try and find the highest point.

But training at high altitude ( even if it's not that high ) will still help. Obviously before you do Everest you'd do climbs on other large mountains. You'd have to work your way up, you couldn't just go straight to Everest unless you're with a team of professionals.Comment
