    any suggestions on boxing shoes?

Hi, I'm currently looking for some new boxing shoes. I was looking at either the Nike Machomai's or Everlast Hydrolast Lockdown. I have a pair of asics that were very nice, except there is now a hole through the bottom of the shoe in only 6 months and didn't have proper foot padding.

Anyways, I'm also wondering if I should get the hi-tops or lows; since the tall machomai's are actually cheaper.

I've heard good things about the Machomai's so they seem like a good boot especially for the price. I switched from a lo top to a hi top and it feels pretty comfortable once you get used to it.

where are you buying them from?

I have a pair of the low top Nikes and think they are pretty good.

HOWEVER - the lacing system is not very good. The way the laces thread through the shoe makes them prone to wear and tear and eventually breaking.
I did not notice this until too late for this pair. I think you could tie your shoes carefully w/o pulling too much on the laces and that will give you longer life. For $56 I say go for it.

Any review on the Hydrolast lockdowns? Those are on sale for about $70

One of my coaches got the Everlast Hydrolast ones and they got a hole worn in the toes in less than a year of wearing them 2-3 days per week.

The hight of them is just personal preference. Higher ones give more support for the ankles and some people like them, but all the ones I've tried on don't feel comfortable so I get the lower ones.

Machomai's are awesome shoes! Probably one of the best to be introduced to the market since the Jordan Shoes first came around.

Go with Machomai's or the Nike Lo-Top shoe. I've had both and do not have a complaint for either model.

Even the high top machomai's are good? I recently heard that their flimsy and don't have good ankle support

I wear adidas boxing 2000 high tops, I find them very comfortable, but beware they are quite small fitting.....if you're a half size (which I am) go a size up.
