    Does recovery really matter?

Let's say my body's weak from the boxing club yesterday, and my shoulders are aching, does that mean i should avoid doing any shoulder workouts today?

Why can't we just keep training like machines, tis ghey,

I've worked out countless times from being sore from the previous day. People abuse the term to make up for being lazy. You have to know your body and how much damage has been done to your muscles in order to say you are capable of working out without being counter productive. Another term overly exhausted is overtraining. If you can say that you are getting enough rest/sleep, diet is good and your working out on an extremely intense leve for over 2-3 hours daily and your getting symptoms of overtraining then one can claim overtraining. If you are getting enough rest, water intake is good, nutrition is good and you know your body then you should be able to know if you can workout the next day
