  • Shoulder Injury-Looking for opinions on what it could be

During sparring today me and my regular partner were going hard at it as always, then as he threw an overhand right, I remember throwing a left hook, our arms collided at top speed and a shooting pain erupted in my shoulder.

I yelled out, it hurt a fair bit, sparring stopped and my trainer had a look at it. My left scapula (shoulder blade) is sticking out compared to my other one, (it was the left shoulder i hurt) i iced it and am home now took some anti-inflammatories also. Now obviously my trainer referred me to the physio who I will call, but what do you guys think it could be specifically?

The pain was bad at first, not I'm going to die pain but a fair bit. I can move the shoulder around now, gingerly though, it is aching and there is a sore point at the back of it and really the whole shoulder itself feels stiff and tight.

    Thanks.

Sounds like subscapularis damage to me matey, but couldnt be sure without seeing you (im a physiotherapy student, almost qualified). Just try and maintain range of movement by moving your shoulder in all directions (support it with the other arm if necessary) and ice ice ice. Make sure you get it checked out by a physio, if subscap or any of your rotator cuff is fully torn then it may need operating on

Sounds like a rotator strain. If it is not bad it will heal in a month or two....don't try to do ANYTHING with it until you get it checked out, you could damage it bad if it is torn.
