I hate that style of pads.. its ok for reactions but you're not fully extending or torquing your punches.. which is a bad habit to develop.

you should take the pads sharp and at high intensity so that those habits will carry over into the ring

        the mitthologist

get a decent coach, somebody who knows his stuff. this clown is just trying to make money off mayweathers name. all he knows about boxing hes got off of youtube. he should send 95% of what he makes to mayweather and fenech

Wow wasn't expecting such a negative response for coach rick, im sure it has some sort of signifigance since floyd does do this mitt work on the regular? I've only met up with rick once so far so i dont know what else he coaches or if its just that type of mitt routines?? It has helped in some areas though, if i throw a straight right hand its becoming muscle memory to either go under a left hook or to catch one... so thats good, no?

When Floyd trains with mitts, his objective is to build muscle memory in turning his punches. Watch some videos and you will see that even though hes throwing 1/3 punches he completely turns all of his punches. If coach Rick is not constantly reminding you to turn your punches more then Floyds mitt work is not benefiting you.

            Good luck in your training!

Snap! Did you notice that just from watching Floyd's videos, or did someone else tell you this?

I'm asking this because I didn't notice before and it's completely true, and you have some sharp eagle eyes if you noticed that without it being pointed out.

I'm on the computer 8 hrs a day for work so I have a lot of time to watch videos and read up before the gym. O_O But if you remember Floyd's interviews he's always talking about technique and turning your punches is one of them.
