    Advice for next fight?

I had my first two amateur fights in early March and took two losses smh... my first fight was stopped (I thought it was stopped early) and my second fight I won the first two rounds(scored standing 8 in 2nd round) and came out too layed back in the third round and it cost me a decision.

I fight at 165 and I'm 5'11-6 ft...my style is strictly outside boxing. I struggled on the inside because I felt like my opponents were smothering my punches and I also got hit with some solid shots on the inside (reason my first fight was stopped).

Any advice on how I can get better at fighting on the inside? Also how can I improve on my stamina (mainly in my legs because thats where I felt the most fatigued throughout training and sometimes during the match)...

the reason y ur legs get tired so fast is cause ur not sparring enough....trust man yea its good to train hard...but aint nothing like sparring that **** improves your stamina and your game and your confidence.......i suggest dont fight again till u spar enough and also shed a few more pounds that will help........

I think u might be right...in my gym we may spar twice a week and sometimes I would only get one day of sparring in for the week. When we do spar its really not that intense, we mainly work on the technical stuff.

When I fought for the first time I was nervous and really didn't know what to expect (even though I wached atleast 10 fights before my actual match).

When I fought for the first time I was suprised how high the intensity level was. The guy was a Marine and he was in excellent shape. He was wild as hell and caught me with a punch on the inside that I didn't see. Fight was stopped in the first round, it was a very humbling experience to say the least.

I had to come back the next night and fight again. Everyone thought I won the 2nd fight, but the judges had a different view of the fight.

twice a week sparring is fine, if you want, throw in drills for in cose game. If you wanna increase your stamina, run more, if you wanna increase how well your legs function, do more plyometrics. I'm do it, and i keep getting faster.

well if he's somebody who is just starting, if his body can handle more sessions than that a week while doing his everyday routine then, sure.

I'd recommend sparring more than twice a week tbh. It's okay though.

As for conditioning, hard sparring, running (mainly intervals and sprints...private mail me if you want more info) and various heavybag drills (again, pm me) are all useful

And as a tallish guy who fights outside, you don't really want to learn how to fight on the inside, but rather to avoid it and get out of there when you are in there.

Keep moving, jabbing (breaking it up....sometimes single jabs, sometimes get off with triples or doubles, feints moving side to side changing direction) Learning how to tie up inside, learning how to spin out and get back to your distance, not coming in too close when you attack, staying off the ropes, covering effectively inside so you don't get scored on.......all stuff a tall outside fighter needs to know. A good trainer should be teaching this.

Also don't be discouraged about losing your first fight, been there done that. I know good fighters who have had losing records early on, and gone on to fight at national and even international level.

Sparring only twice a week? I'd be happy to spar once a week. Here in Holland, boxing is not taken seriously enough. I do miss the USA.

actually agreed twice a week as a young starter is good...dont b discouraged at all...as far as the legs as one guy said do more plyometrics...box jumps, lunges, blurpees and one thing people seem to leave out is calf raises..get those calfs strong so its easier for u to stay on your toes and keep moven fast in the ring...if your quick on your feet he wont get on the inside...punch and move punch and move....i've only had 2 official fights myself but was fighting a smaller inside fighter...kept him at end of jab he got like 3 standing 8counts in the fight....i jus jabbed and moved kept sticken him..he got mad tried to rush in..i moved lol...he basicly fell he was tryen so hard...moving not bein where dude is punchen will wear them down
