So, in the past, I've generally been able to weigh in about 5 lbs under my actual walk around weight. For example, if I weight 165 lbs, I won't eat or drink anything after 6-7pm the night before my fight until my weigh in the next day, except maybe a bit of water and a very light snack if i'm really hungry. In doing this, I've consistantly been able to come in weighing about 159, 160 lbs max. I eat a very healthy diet regularly, and drink water non-stop throughout the day, everyday.
I have a few questions...
1. Could this in anyway, scientifically speaking, affect my performance, assuming I weigh in about 5 hours before fight time?
2. Ideally between when I weigh in and fight, what would the ideal meals and liquids to eat and drink?
3. If I were to be, say, 7 or 8 pounds lighter than my actual walk around weight, what would be the most ideal way to do this (other than not at all)?
Doing this has never seemed to affect my performance, but I am also not fully educated on it so I am interested in hearing your opinions. Thanks!
