  • At 16 should I be worrying about a diet?

I'm not overweight or anything, I have a fight April 17th and was thinking about cutting back on soda and all that. I was wondering if I should watch what I eat carefully or what?

You should aim to eat healthy no matter what age you are. You don't have to "diet," but drinking soda and eating junk food will just hinder you. As long as you eat well balanced meals you should be good. You'll find that when you eat right you'll feel a lot more energetic throughout the day.

This. I love junk food but there's no way I could train on it, makes you feel sluggish and not nutritious enough.

        true this ^^

u dont need to set up some diet and have all your meals planned, u know what to stay away from. stop drinking soda and junk food, when u get hungry between meals have some fruit instead of a candybar etc.

You're still growing, you should eat healthy food, but dont ever starve to make weight or nothing like that. Fruits and Salads are great and you dont gain any pounds eating them

If you're still in highschool you should have someone who teaches nutrition or health at your school, i'd ask them, they'll be a little biased against cutting weight, so i'd probably talk to them, but to get both sides of the story talk to someone who coaches wrestling, and also the school nurse. It'll make their day to talk about something that actually interests them rather than the usual BS they deal with from 16 year olds. Remember though all these people will have a bit of a spin on it based on their area of expertise, but its an educated source that you have easy access to.

great information bro, I couldnt have said it any better myself... Wrestling coaches know their **** when it comes to cutting weight, like the back of their hand... So yeah kid, as the coach and school nurse... And also, dont drink pop if you wanna box, I stick with strictly milk, water, and fruit juice. Occasionally if im out to dinner with people or somethin i'll have a soda, but only once in great while... As for fast food, I cant tell you not to do it, same goes with the soda pop, but I wont lie I probably eat fast food once a week, sometimes twice, I mainly just try to eat at home and eat healthy, and when I eat fast food I usually try to order the healthiest thing possible on the menu, even though it's still all a bunch of crap for you.. Try new things that are healthy, that you might not have necessarily cared to try before, regardless of what you think about it, you cant like something until you try it, and you shouldnt knock something if you havent... I used to be a picky eater but I found that when you try new **** youll find more healthier food and that's been great for me
