F**k that !! Seriously, I question the effectiveness of those type of ab-punishment drills. Even Roach don't agree with those type of training for the abs, just like he doesn't really like how PAC does the stick drill.
That's your friggin' organs, man. Nothing variations of sit-ups w/ hundreds of reps can't take care off and hard cardio !!
And plus, just like the chin, there's no drill in the world that can toughen up that liver. Liver shots are liver shots.
That **** is bollocks.. A little bit of it for conditioning and pure toughness is fine but it doesn't actually strengthen your abs significantly just like pounding a bag won't build up your shoulders
i cant watch youtube vids at work but if its some one getting punished in the abs it really does help.
alot of it is conditioning as all the mucles that you have are wrapped in a kind of saran wrap and the more you beat them the more the saran wrap wrapper thickens up allowing the impact to be spread out over the muscle more efficiently, reduce the chances of the muscle bruising, and make the muscle harder to the touch then you ever could with exercise alone.
the second advantage is that your damaging the muscle area in a way that dosnt take away from our ability to exercise the muscle like pulling a muscle or something. this will cause an increase flow of blood to the area to repair any damage done, at the same time the increase blood flow greatly increases recovery rate.
my favorite way to go about this type of conditioning is to get drunk at a party and go around asking people to punch me in the stomach as hard as they can. though most people are weary about punching some one so i get one of my friends to punch me a few times first then since people see other people doing it they become less reserve about punching people and i have no shortage of volunteers.
anyway I've sparred guys who don't have half my muscle mass but can still kick my ass round the ring so it doesn't actually mean anything other than looking good for the other half naked guys at the weigh in.
