do u have to swing ur hip and pivot ur front foot to throw a jab. My coach said to do that but I never seen any boxer do it and in the title video, the guy rotated nothing.

Why would you? The jab should be used as a probing punch, it sounds like what your coach is describing will just end up with you off balance
EDIT: and I wouldn't take too much advice from that guy on youtube. His material only works for a specific style of boxingLast edited by Righthandbanger; 03-02-2010, 05:19 AM. -

I know what your talking about .Here on this vid only right hands .All depends on your trainer I think man .It does give you a bit more reach and power into it if you want it not inless your just using it to set up a shot .I do sometimes and I don't tbh. There is boys in my club that do it.

A jab shouldn't be a power punch. Putting too much power in the jab makes your follow up slower. Its like any combo, if you do every punch all out your combo will be so slow.Comment

What about this vid mate .My jabs one of my favourite shots .I love throwing it doubles and trebles . The way I look at it the now you could use it to just set up a combo like 10 percent into jab 40 percent right hand and 50 percent last energy left hook but the odd one 100 percent evergy wouldn't hurt.Comment
