stronglifts is a good program, i used that when i first started lifting. although when you get to working with heavier weight, you're not gonna be able to squat 3 times a week, it's not enough recovery time. it should be good for about the first 6 months you work out, give or take.

Guys this is some great advice, thanks! As far as the calorie intake...... goddamn haha 3200 - thats a lot of work just to prepare all that food. Looks like I'm gonna be busy..
I think this week im gonna start with push ups, pull ups, and crunches just to get my body used to working out again - Im tryin not to go to the gym and then be sore as all hell for the next 5 days, ya know? that seem like a good idea? (open to any other recommendations - maybe lighter workout at the gym to start? not sure)
Thanks again, guys - Great help.

dear op, I am almost identical to you cept I am about 5' 9" 135-140 lb. My question to you is where do you want to be? I hope to reach a fight weight of 141lb by the end of this summer and walking weight of 145 lb. I'm also a naturally thin guy. Getting into shape doesn't neccessarily mean gaining weight though with time, it will be easier to gain muscle. Through boxing, I've notice it can be hard to gain weight.

1) hypertrophy based routines produce less strength and more size than strength programs
2) muscle mass requires fuel from the blood, thus possibly leading to you gassing quicker whereas fat doesn't require fuel and adds the weight
3) excessive gains in muscle mass in one area can lead to difficulty with maintaining a tight defence.
.. Trust me I've been there, no muscle is better than useless muscle so if you're gna do it, do it properly

Not sure how related this is, but im heading to the store in a day or two to grab some foods/snacks that might be good for weight gain/boxing - any recommendations? Mostly Im looking for stuff that I could eat throughout the day, in between meals, to keep myself bringing in the calories
