I have almost equal power in both hands but I'm orthodox, but I move hell of a lot better in southpaw. That's weird ****.

I'm always tempted to fight southpaw to have that strong lead, I'm like a reverse Oscar in so much as I have a strong right arm and a weak left arm. Ultimately I stick with orthodox, though.

I'm right handed but fight with a right hand lead. When people feel my jab they are like "holy **** if that's just his jab then I don't want to get hit by his left".

The benefits for me is that it is very easy to hit an orthodox opponent with my lead (right) hook, which is also my hardest punch. Throwing the rear hook is not a problem but i do struggle a lot with the cross.

It's definitely worth trying both styles. You ultimately decide in which stance you feel strongest. Don't let anyone else tell you differently.

Im right handed, when I fight southpaw naturally my jab-hooks are alot better, but my straight lefts are really slow. I box in and trap better from a southpaw stance with my dominant right in front, but I can switch anytime. My left jab is getting alot better but my left hooks are horrible. I like doing both...but I know I cant stay southpaw for an entire match.

As far as the thread topic goes, I started out orthadox (I am right handed) and did that for a few years. Recently I have switched to southpaw (just for fun and for the hell of it) and noticed three major things that have really helped me.

                  1. My jab is much better as well as my lead hook either for ending a combo or as a counter (considering not alot of people expect alot of power from an akward angle)

                  2. When I threw my right hand when I was orthadox, I threw it so hard when I fought I was completely off balance sometimes, and I completely ignored the jab when the pressure came on and a fire fight started. When southpaw, I dont extend as much (I cant because if I do i feel uncomfortable) and I have a nice jolting feel to both my hands, which really helps with quick counters and overall power in all my punches.

                  3. My most important advantage I noticed, is the fact my footwork has increased literally around 3X. When I stepped with the left foot, I basically only moved forward and back unless I really thought about it, and still then, I was off balance sometimes. When southpaw, my quicker, better controlled leg dictates where I move, how to distribute the weight, as well as makes pivoting a hell of a lot easier. Angles are so much simpler to get to if you control yourself with your dominant leg. Its great to feel comfortable when I move, it's awesome to use footwork to angle off so the opponent can never set up a good combination.

Im ambidextrous. So, I can fight both sides.

My feelings on the lead hand though, is that it should be the one to do everything. So I when I fight southpaw, the hand with the most work is the right hand.

When I fight orthodox, I become a textbook boxer. Oscar Dela Hoya type. Jab to set up everything for the right howitzer cannon.

Opponents are forever off balance when fighting me. You can't get into a rythm, and you can't prepare for me either. I will come in orthodox, next round I might be southpaw. One side leans towards power, and the other leans towards speed. It will forever keep you guessing.
