  • Tips for new boxers

    Hello

A a month ago I joined a Taekwondo club, Taekwondo has to do alot with legs and almost nothing with arms and I didn't like that so in about 3 weeks when it is holiday here I will take a test lesson at a local boxing club.

Anyway, I thought it was a good idea to create a topic for new boxers with a lot of tips that you would conscience would have.

Thanks and sorry for my poor English!

Don't wear black tracksuit bottoms with a double white stripe down the side

I got made fun of by my coach for wearing "***** karate trousers"

Don't expect to become a boxer and not get hit. We all get hit.

Mind over matter. To be a boxer you have to mentally tough. You're coaches will also be more straight forward with you as opposed to most martial arts. Boxers have a different mentality than other arts, but stick around and you will never want to leave.

Boxing is a unique sport. Just listen to the coach and work hard is your best starting advice.

And Decepticon is right in saying most boxing coaches are pretty straightforward, swearing is pretty normal in a gym and most coaches don't tip toe around what they want you to do, well mine doesn't anyway.

you can be a little scared.. but don't let it obstruct you from what you're doing. if anything, it'll keep you sharp. if you get too mellow, u get careless. so stay focused, work hard and never let fear take over.

it sounds like movie talk, but i think it really works.

i used to take Tae kwon do also

                  i didn't really like it

boxing is very similar in theory, but you have to refine yourself down to a point, and make yourself sharp

                  go have fun
