fraziers gym is closed due to joe not paying his taxes... but within a 10 block radius from fraziers gym there are at least 5 boxing gyms from there... all with old school trainers whos willing to tell u their secrets for a small fee... thats just one part of norf philly... there are prolly at least 30 gyms all through out the city... i wouldnt go to a real "commercial" gym... gyms that charge too much money... gyms that r downtown.. they dont know **** about boxing (i could prolly train u better) and they just out for the money... they may just use u as spar bait for their advanced fighters.... ur best bet is to go to a gym in ur hood where the trainers will treat u with respect and take time to train u and give u advice as long as u come to fight... good luck

Jersey has some good gyms, New Breed is one of them I don't remember the others.

As far as NY goes I looked into training at Gleasons and everyone tells me the politics there have gotten out of hand, but I don't know from first hand experience so you might want to give it look.

Mendez is the best gym in Manhat, Brooklyn has about 10 gyms spread out all over. Bronx has one of the better gyms in the city, cant remember the name though.

I cant speak for Jersey but in NYC **** can be complicated. Most gyms have an army of trainers that are all free lance trainers. Some are good and some don't know ****. Some gyms you pay a flat fee and they give u a trainer for an hour or so, but if your not paying much that trainer isnt gonna do ****. A lot depends on where the gym is your going to. If your in manhat and you want a personal trainer each time you come in that **** wont be cheap. If your in BK or BX you might be able to find something more affordable. Most gyms have discounts for licensed amateur fighters.

I came from a free gym too, so finding a gym out here has been a pain in the ass. I would check Mendez and see what they will offer you, a lot of trainers and fighters have been going there so they must be doing something right.
