  • Weight training does help for boxing...

My trainer had me do some weights today he had me do push ups with some light weighted dumbells and arm curling very fast and other stuff. I felt my punches go straighter and when I punched the mitts it was a stiff punch and not wably when it landed...I think that the stronger your arms get the stiffer and more accurate your punches can get...the power behind your punches comes from your legs to your abdominals but once you apply some stiffness to it then your opponent can bamboozled by any landed shot you throw...its true that it might get you a little slower but I think that the benefit is worth it... however I did feel like crap cuz I had a terrible breakfast an hour before training and I couldn't continue lol...Any thoughts?

You can have your preferences, but weights definitely work in regards to strength training.

Are you talking about power punching or resistance strength?
