    How's my diet?

    Was just wondering if you think my diets good for boxing and wondering if anyone has any tips.

    6.40am i'll have a bowl of porridge with a glass of orange juice and i'm thinking of throwing in a banana too.

    10am i'll have some fruit, usually g****s and an apple.

    12pm i have sandwiches, usually chicken or ham.

    7-8pm i usually have a pasta based meal after training.

    I also try and drink as much water as i can throughout the day.

    My 2 cents worth.

    Get a juicer and juice some fresh organic veg to go along with this, the enymes in the veg will ensure that you get the most from your food, eliminating the need to any supplements. Ditch the pig meat as its heavy on the pancreas. Avoid white starches like potatoes, white rice, and white pasta as they mess up your blood sugar levels, any excess insulin gets stored as fat. Switch to wholegrain/wholemeal/wholefoods.

    The best book I ever read on diet was a book called "Slim for Life" by Jason Vale. Adopt some of his principles and you'll never struggle to make weight.

      If your training regularly your diets fine.

      if your just dieting and your not training take the guy's advice above me.

      I really really dont like veg juice but its not too bad for what you get from it though a good mens sport multi vitamin will do just as well. i would also say that a multi vitamin probably costs less then buying veggies every day and is easier to prepare and clean up after though it wont replace a meal like a veggie juice can.

        Where can i get the sports milti vitamins from? Would rather them as i really can't stand veg atall, though i do try eat some. And as you say, they're not that cheap and i'm on a tight budget.

          I'd try to get some more protein in your diet (Chicken Breast, Fish, Tuna, Turkey Breast)

          Also some healthy fats like Almonds and Olive Oil.

          As far as supplementation I'd get a solid multi-vitamin and Fish Oil. Whey Protein would be an option as well if you are having trouble finding budget protein sources from food. In which case, tuna is extremely cheap. But in reality, when you factor in price per serving, you really can't beat a tub of whey protein.

          If you are having trouble eating vegetables get something like Emerald Balance.

            your supposed to take 2 a day but you only really need 1.

              Yeah i was thinking of chucking in a chicken breast with wholewheat pasta after training for protein. I was thinking of using tuna, but apparently it's not good to eat too much tuna or something??

              I've also been looking at Whey protein but i don't really want to put too much weight on. Would it work if i just used it once every day after training, or do i really need to follow the instructions of twice a day?

                A 35g hit of protein will come in around 95 calories so you need not worry about putting on weight (especially if you have one straight after training). No need for 2 a day. Your other daily protein intake should be through food.

                1 good multi-vitamin, 1 cod liver oil capsole and a protein shake (after training) has worked well for over 15 years for me.
