  • Best way to take care of your boxing gloves after training?

I pour talco on them but sometime I sweat a lot and I'm not sure if that is enough, is there anything I have to do to prevent them from getting bacteria and stuff?

Also a lot of people are bitching at me for not using handwraps, but I just hit the bag since I have no one to spar and train with, plus I bodybuild.

You should wear handwraps, especially for the heavybag. You're most likely hitting the heavybag harder than you would your sparring partner and probably wearing lighter gloves to (16oz for sparring probably 12 or 14 for heavybag).

Google search for 'glove dogs' and buy or make a pair (basically cedar wood chips in a sock). Throw them in your gloves after training and they will suck up sweat and reduce smell.

not everyone can afford the awesome glove dryer so i have some tips you can use. definitely use wraps because your hands are your money makers and if you mess up your hands then your going to regret it. also using wraps helps to absorb the moisture in your gloves.

make sure you have at least 2-3 sets of wraps that you rotate with so that the wraps are always washed and clean.

next after every workout i usually wipe them down with sanitizing wipes that you can either buy in bulk or smaller packs. the smell comes from the bacteria that grows from oils and sweat from your hands.

you can probably wipe them down with a small towel to get out as much moisture but if you use wraps you wont have to. after i wipe them down i just let them air dry and they are good to go the next day.

wipe down the outside as well with sanitizing wipes just because some people touch the gloves to their own face when they have their guard up and when you hit mitts, bags, and other people there is a transfer of who knows what so i doubt one would want that on their face.

if you wipe them down after every workout you wont have to use glove dogs because smell should not develop.

      good luck.

Mighty, youre over doing it bro, hand sanitizer in them maybe????
Most ppl I know just open them up and take them out of their bag or hang them up, talco is not a bad idea. Make sure you get some hand wraps, hitting the bag without wraps is not a good idea.
