Slip-bag help

do you really need a slip bag,try doing without,why do you want to put rice or beans in the slip bag,i think you dont need a slip bag,maybe i am wrong but is a slip bag an essential part of your routine,or just something that you can say that you have a slip bag filled with rice or fava beans
