I'm just wondering if it is possible to gain 17 pounds in 8 months? Not gaining mass but pure muscle.

definitely easy if you put in the work. I went from 125 to 150 and it was for sure pure muscle because it's a bit difficult for me to put on weight because i tend to have a hard time eating tons of food. I didnt change how a i ate for that 1 semester of college and i still gained 25lbs of muscle working out 3x a week. i probably would have put on an easy 5 more lbs if i actually did legs at that time.

yeah but dude. your body doesnt stop growing at 25. im 15. and no matter how hard i work out, im going to gain weight no matter what. and so did you, and the only reason it was so fast is because you were way overdue. 125 in college is really underweight

Putting on Muscle is a matter of three things

        1) Eating a Lot
        2) Working out (Lifting Heavy)
        3) Getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night

Some people think that it's impossible for them to gain weight, I used to be the same way.

People think the key is to kill yourself in the gym, but really eating is the most important thing when it comes to putting on muscle.

You can lift all the weight you want but if you aren't eating enough you aren't going get big. That's just the facts.

I really can't stress eating enough. I was the same way. I thought it was impossible but it's really not.

I also hate to say but eventually you can only do calisthenics for so long until you hit a wall.

Aside from eating a lot, if you want to get big you have to move some weight. Put a bar on your back and squat it. Bench Presses, Deadlifts, Rows, Pull-Up, OH Presses etc.

          Dont just eat, eat right.
Carbs and proteins are your most important - Pasta, Rice, Lean meats etc.

And you "normally" need to be failing between 8 and 12 reps then have 30-120 seconds rest then do your next set.
However there are various methods of training for muscle growth and as most people know, people will swear by different things.
Dont think you HAVE to eat **** loads and you HAVE to just kill yourself in the gym with really heavy weight and loads of sets.

If your serious about putting on solid muscle mass i suggest you look into hypertrophy training and not just come on here and listen to people who are just guessing. (I'm not one of them i have fitness instructor qualifications) but short of me lecturing you - you should find everything you need by typing that in on google.

          http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com...programs2.html
This has a few helpful example programmes and some good info.

I'll suggest taking a look through bodybuilding.com - the forum on there is full of big lifters so you'll be better asking questions there.
          Good luck and train smart
