    interval running vs normal running

i was wondering on your ideas on interval running. i find them better for boxing than normal running. i still do 2 mile run once in the while but interval running replace my normal running.

Interval training is great for boxing as stepping it up a notch is like throwing combinations and such in a fight, plus it makes your body work faster and more sporatic rather than a slow steady pace (which boxing is not)

I recommend it fully, plus it is a quick way to get your workout done faster.

    HIIT training gets my nod.

spinks do you still do a steady pace run once in the while or do you find no use for it.

I will do it to relax, but a lot of my workouts now are at intervals to keep my intensity high....I will train for 5-6 days high tense and then on the 7th day take a breather and go for a nice slow jog....

DO both, do longruns once ore twice a week and then intervalls 2-4 times a week. the long run should be atleast 6miles. And the interwall should wary, like 15sec oo 15 sec off sprins. 30 on and 30off and on flat ground, stairs and hills. Variaton is the key.

                Do it right

Interval sprinting is the best way to condition your cardiovascular system for boxing. It stresses both aerobic and anaerobic conditioning. That being said it must be made sport specific, and in this case we are of course talking about boxing which you perfom a 3-1 work to rest ratio meaning you do three minutes of work to one minute of rest. I recomend that 4-6 round fighters do there sprint work monday and friday, and swim on wednesday. 8-12 round fighters I would recomend sprints on monday, swimming on wednesday, and distance run on friday. Remember condtioning work is supplemental to boxing training. Your boxing training is your primary training. You should allow your boxing training to suffer so you can put more into the conditioning training. If you are pushing yourself in your conditioning training then those 3 days are more than adequate.
