  • Minor Concussion?

so today was my first day back to the gym to spar in like a month..i remember my trainer tellin me im gonna spar this one cat, then take a few rounds off, then spar another..thats all i remember. my trainers said i sparred and said i didnt even get hit that clean (i never do, not to brag or anything, i just got a tight guard)..but i didnt remember **** about spaaring. i let my trainer know like 10 mins after sparring..he said i was hiting the bag after and seemed normal.but real talk, i dont remember ****. i had to sit the rest of the practice out and my mom and brother had to pick me up and take me home..i really dont remember anything i did today, or last week. i usually have good memory of everything.but now, i dont remember sh it..it seems like everything is a dream to me.craazzyy. i cant believe this happened to me. has this happened to anyone else?

Happened to me in the finals of the silver gloves years ago. I do not remember even going into the ring. I remember jabbing, then seeing him start to trickle a little blood. I threw another jab, and blood was all over his face. That is all I remember.

I remember getting ready for the fight, then next thing I know I am fading into reality from nothing, almost like a movie that fades from black to a picture. I was standing in the locker room with my jacket and trophy, and I had no clue if I had won or not. Everyone thought I was joking until they realized I was serious.

I saw the doc, and they said nothing was wrong if I was feeling okay. I watched the tape, and like you, I rarely get hit(Not a tight guard, I am just very slick). However, the last punch of the fight I leaned against the ropes, and as they pushed me back, he threw an over hand right that landed clean as can be. I walked to his corner, shook him and his corners hands, and went back to mine. I seemed 100% fine on the tape, but in reality, I do not remember a thing.

I did this to one of the pro's at our gym. They were walking around fine after sparring then they just stopped mid stride and asked what was going on. I landed a very clean punch on him and rocked him into the corner, I assume that is what "Knocked him out".

So most likely, you got hit with a clean punch and took it like it was nothing, which is why no one would think anything of it. Only way to know is to watch tapes, which is why I tape all of my sparring / fights =)

            Man, that sounds creepy!

I'm not a doc, or even much of a boxer for that matter, but I've read some stuff about things like this and you guys should really go see a doctor and get a brain scan (or whatever the techincal term is - EKG?) Memory loss, and "flash" kind of knockouts are really dangerous. If this happened to me I wouldn't train until getting checked out, (luckily I think I have an iron dome Otherwise when you get older you get to look forward to migranes that never go away, slurred speech, and lack of motor skills.

That doesn't sound like slight concussion at all. That sounds like a full blown concussion when you have full memory loss like that. You should go see the doc right away.

I was out once, and yea, that's the feeling. you remember what you were doing before and then remember what happened after you wake up. you know you were talking, walking and everything but you're not concious. scary.

when you spar make sure you have a proper fitting mouth guard and the right size headgear,if you are not properly fitted you will be prone to injury, kepp your hands up and jab jab boom right down the middle, step to your left **** a left hook, try this combo when you spar,it is a good combo
