I've tried on those Grant's and yes they offer real good protection. Very bulky offers good protection on your nose and to avoid those black eyes.

I have the Grant Mexican and I like it a lot. But with that said, this is the first, and only headgear I have owned. I have no perspective. Others who have used mine have also had positive experiences.

I think it provides a lot of protection compared to traditional styles. However, I have had minor black eyes and a bruised up noses with this headgear. I think the best mexican style is winning 2900:

There are also alternatives that are probably comparable for less b/c they are not Grant:

        Fighting sports ($70):

        Titan ($40):

If you really can't afford to get touched get something with a facebar. Depending on your gym you may catch some ****, but it is what it is.

        Reyes ($150):

New Everlast that has been redone ($150):

And of course, the infamous winning that costs $400 bucks.

Has anyone used the FightGear Mexican Style Training Headgear? If so, how is it? Does it protect the nose well?

this ones 50 and i guarantee you won't get hit in the eye or anything, the bar sticks out and prevents your opponents glove from actually making contact witih your face. i had it for awhile and returned it because i couldn't actually keep my own gloves close enough to my face and thought it would encourage bad habits by me (sticking my hands too far out, id like to keep my defense real tight)
