Goodluck and dont give up
I train my southpaw nephew I can't stress how important his lead right jab is.
We work on speed but also doubling up as a rangefinder for his strong left.
But without footwork this all goes out the window, get your footwork right!!!

The most awkward thing would be a southpaw with nice footwork who moves you around and attacks from angles.
Because as an orthodox fighter we try to position our lead foot outside theirs, and go to work with the lead right and left hook, moving to the left and working them over.
But if they are constantly changing angle, position, and are very mobile, makes the job extremely difficult and it will tempt guys to go after you and try to brawl, which leaves them open.

Boring footwork! Yes it can be for a beginner, but the advantage you have is your a southpaw,
Get your footwork neat and you'll become very awkward to fight.
Depending on how much a beginner you are??
Learn the basic footwork moves. (Get this right)
Keep your right foot outside his right.
Stay on the move.
Great comments from One more round.
