How long before i should box after a fractured knuckle

I hurt my right hand about 5 weeks back after a few days when the swelling went away i could move it fine almost as normal and can lift weights with it etc but after 5 weeks i still cant hit with it as the point of the knuckle is sore after looking on the internet i think i must have fractured it, how long do you think i should rest it before going back to using it at the boxing gym?

broken hand? stay away from boxing, ask any experienced trainer and they'll tell you, once your hands go, its all over.

Swollen for three days and all you've done is look on the internet? That would be bad enough, but to top it off you come from a country with socialised healthcare. You, or your taxpaying neighbour has already paid for it so I suggest you make the most of the local healthcare facilities. If it is fractured and you have had no treatment plus you're doing weights on it, there could be long term damage. I once let a big fracture heal for 8 weeks but it still hurts from time to time, 8 years later. Hands are the fighters most important assetts. Get them treated!

what happened with your hand again ? I broke few of mine knuclke bones before, though.

so usually it takes from 2-4 months to fully healed, and only then you can practice step by step.

It was awkward as it was over the weekend and you have to wait hours where i live for an x-ray and by Monday the hand was starting to get better, I don’t do heavyweights at all, its only light weights and I waited for about 4 weeks before doing them, I will cut them out till next year then. My mum used to work as a nurse and I had it strapped up for 2 weeks. Its got a lot better and is completely usable except on the point of the knuckle where it is still sore its also a little bit sore when using a keyboard so I should probably stop using a computer but that’s difficult when I work in IT.
