  • Any1 Know About Speed Training?

Basically, I play alot of football (soccer) about 3 times a week....sundays i play league matches 11 a side

Im a good footballer...got everything i need really except 1 thing!

Pace!!!!! Its sooo fking anoying, for the first 5-8 meters....im very fast, il beat most my mates to the ball or any1 im playing, but after that its as if i go a gear down and slow down....

Its not like i run out of energy, i start thinking in my head "why the fk aint i running faster" i got lots of energy just ready to burn but the legs jst dont go!

I've had alot of injury's over the years, and it has lost me quite abit of speed....

Does any1 know any legit speed training methods that maybe they have tried or know other people that have done it and its worked... to improve say my speed over 20 meters?

    And please no plyometrics! lol

**** I did this for football (football) several years ago but I cant remember all the stuff. I was able to take 4 tenths of a second off my 40 yard sprint time in like like two weeks just by improving my running technique.

I'll see if I can remember the drills we did.

Just make sure you are running on the balls of your foot, bring your knees up more and as soon as one foot hits the ground spring it right back up as if you were trying to kick yourself in the butt with your heel. You want short strides, don't drag your legs behind you. That's what I did and when I ran properly I was immediately faster.

you do not need speed to play football[soccer],it is such a boring sport that all you do is walk around until the ball is shot in your direction,if it is close you trot over and try to kick the ball into the humongous gigantic net,how is a goalie supposed to make a save, the only way a goalie makes a save is when the ball is shot right at them even then most of them go in,soccer is so boring that on sunday morning after sleeping for a solid 8 hours i get up and put the game on next thing you know i am out like a light sleeping like a baby, soccer is good if you are having trouble sleeping,it would put you sound asleep, thats how boring it is

Think of the olympic sprinter .Legs you maybe need .Squats lunges hillsprints 1 leg squats step-ups etc.Strength strength endurance or speed strength ?Try Rosstraining or u could try sending Ross an email he might help.Man you probably seriously need to get lifting for lower limbs legs.Legs legs legs man just make sure you stretch off properly.

some people like to play soccer i do not know why,you think for one minute i am going to walk around this gigantic field and wait for a ball to land near me so i can take a shot at this net that is so big if you had ten players guarding it the ball would still go in with room to spare,no way not this guy i would not play soccer nowhere not today and not tomorrow,i would rather watch soap opers on tv

Used to be really into footy when I was a young un, grew up playing it and watching it. Nowadays I cant watch a football match unless its an important world cup game, couldnt give a **** about club football. Absolutely love playing football though, dont get to play it half as much as Id like though.

                Thanks for the replys

I think im defo gonna start working on my legs alot more...

Also i think im going to try hill sprinting, apparently it really helps your running technique (high knees and power in legs)

I might also add some ankle weights, for some resistance....apparently they worked for a friend..

Shows how unfit u are, if you think thats a gigantic field...

Also who the hell waits for a ball lol, you gotta win it with your team or make your opponent make a mistakes

And lastly if its that easy to score, why are most football matches played by professionals (who can shoot brilliantly) only 2-1 or so
