Firstly Been feeling unmotivated lately, How do you guys pick yourselves up when you start feeling a little lazy to drag yourself into the gym. I was going 6 days a week but now its like 3. ALso Ive been running far less frequently because my Ipod was stolen and The weather isnt as nice and its been a bummer.

Secondly, Some times i spar with a guy who is MUCH bigger than me, right now I weigh like 145 and im about 5'10 and he Prob weighs between 220 and 240, Hes not like super muscular or anything, hes just very stout and is about 6'1 - 6'2.

I've been boxing for a while longer than him, when we used to spar I throughly dominated him when he was new, lol. now that hes been getting better last week i sparred with him and got wrecked, It was the best bloody nose I've ever had, my coach stopped the fight two minutes in. But yeah. I was given advice that I need to be in and out more. not only does he have a bit of a longer reach that I making it impossible to keep him at distance with my jab but also getting in close is difficult because he distances me, and when i do try he just completely out-muscles me. So, Be more elusive, yes? My leaning and head movement need a lot of work, Need a lot more time on the slip bag. What are your opinions on this?

It wont do me too much harm sparring him more would it? I know this question is asked a lot but should I just stick to people my own weight? I do much better against guys my own size even though the ones my size have much more experience than me.

Thirdly what are your opinions on rear handed hooks? They don't feel right, I'm told just to avoid them a lot of people don't use them, but Tyson did , whenever i see it from anybody it looks sloppy Probably a punch that takes a lot of time before you can do it correctly. My three is fine.

Baiting your opponent to throw, I have a decent stance that's pretty defensive, crouched, weighted arms in, peekaboo. lowing your right to make your opponent throw a one two. Silly idea to hugely parry then to come with a big right? Reckless?

Just keep going to the gym, keep running. You won't get anywhere in boxing by not putting in. It's gets tough sometimes but keep going.

As for sparring the big guy, I don't know why you are sparring a 220lb guy if there's other guys around your size for you too spar. But if you get told to spar him, do it. Use your feet, keep moving, stay off the ropes, and keep a tight defence. Throw feints to keep him guessing, and move in with one or two shots as you are moving around him.

Just keep your defence tight and stay mobile basically. You won't get hurt that way. I've sparred and fought bigger guys and I've gotten alright at that mobile, defensive, safety first sort of style.

Question 1: no one can motivate you but YOU!!

Personally, im in the same spot as you right now... im starting to get lazy. Just put one foot in front of the other untill u get to the gym.

Question 2: keep working with the big guy. It helps more than you know! You become more elusive and ur movements become WAY better. I've also worked with bigger guys and when I get in there with someone my own size... its much easier for me.

Question 3: I don't remember what it was, so fucc it... whatever... good luck

Ironically i will say music. Buy yourself a new ipod because i dont know how people run and train without music, really is what keeps me going, and the fact im in love with the sport!
